The 2019 PHE National Conference is going to be hosted in the beautiful city of Montreal. Whether you drive, train or fly to get there, the trip is totally worth it! The city is full of wonders, including the parks of Mont Royal, the towering Notre-Dame Basilica, the cobblestone streets of the Old Port and the incredible shopping downtown. Here are a few things to think about when planning your trip to the conference:
Driving can be such a fun way to get to Montreal! Grab some of your fellow phys ed teachers, a car, some snacks and hit the road. Who doesn’t love a road trip, right? Montreal is a 32 hour drive from St John’s, 12 hours from Charlottetown and Halifax, 8 hours from Fredericton, 5 hours from Toronto, 25 hours from Winnipeg, 30 hours from Regina, 37 hours from Edmonton, 47 hours from Victoria, 52 hours from Yellowknife, and 59 hours from Whitehorse. If you’re looking to split the gas costs with your fellow roadtrippers, Splitwise is an amazing app for splitting bills and making sure that everyone gets paid back!
Fun fact… Did you know that Tuesdays are the cheapest days to buy train tickets? By subscribing to the VIA Rail newsletter, you can even get reminders to buy your ticket for the low fare on Tuesdays. Behind on planning (or on Netflix)? No need to worry! The train offers free WIFI. The train is a great way to travel and allows you to get work done or relax as you travel.
Direct flights into Montreal can be taken on Air Canada, PAL Airlines, Air Creebec, WestJet, Air Transat, First Air, Porter Airlines and Air Inuit. According to Global News, it is best to buy a plane ticket at least 21 days in advance and to avoid buying on a Friday. In my experience, Tuesdays are the best for cheaper fares!
Can’t wait to see everyone there!
